– things to consider-
Sand and finishing will typicaly take 3 to 4 days to complete -depending on size, what type of finish is used and sometimes weather-
there are 2 diffrent types of finish to consider , the first is oil base the most known and most used finish, the 2nd is water based finish.
the diffrence between the two finish types
OIL – the most common choice due to being the most known. Oil base finish is the most potent of the 2 choices, it normaly takes 3-5 days for the smell of the finish to disipate . Oil base finish also takes a minnimum of 8 hours to dry enough to be walked on and to put down another coat of finish . Furniture can be moved back the day after the final coat is applied.. With area rugs it is best to wait a minimum of 2 weeks before putting them back in place,
Water-is slowly becoming the main choice in finishes due to the fact it takes half the time to dry and fumes are much easyer to live with and normaly only takes 1-2 days to dissipate, It also makes for a faster job sense it does dry faster most jobs can have 1-2 days cut off the total job time. same as the oil base finish. Furniture can be moved back the day after the final coat is applied. With area rugs it is best to wait a minimum of 2 weeks before putting them back into place.
